About Charleston : Kiawah

Kiawah is a 10,000 acre private residential resort community, south of Johns Island. Kiawah Island is located 21 miles south of historic Charleston. The island offers 10 miles of beautiful beach and 30 miles of paved biking trails.

Kiawah Island Community Association Inc. is a mandatory-membership, not-for-profit corporation which manages the business and property that contribute to the overall ambience and property values of Kiawah Island. KICA maintains the millions of dollars worth of roads, ponds, landscaping, leisure trails and other infrastructure built and conveyed by the developer. These facilities are owned in common by all Members, and help to enrich life on this barrier sea island. KICA also enforces the Covenants and Rules & Regulations which help preserve our property values, oversees island access, gate operations and roving patrols, and operates the Sandcastle Recreation Center.

Beachwalker Park on Kiawah Island, affords visitors access to a wide sandy beach with a 300' swimming area, staffed with lifeguards on duty seasonally. The park amenities include dressing areas, outdoor showers, rest rooms, a picnic area, and a snack bar. Beach chair, raft, and umbrella rentals are available along the beachfront. Golfers can enjoy five championship golf courses including the world-famous Ocean Course.
